DISCOVER LIPARI
The island of Lipari is the largest of the Aeolian archipelago with an important historical heritage. As matter of fact it was known as the Greek Meligunis. Its surface is 37.6 square kilometers and there are about 10,000 residents, number that grows in the summer.
It is a volcanic island and the oldest rocks date back about 225,000 years ago. Today there are still fumarolic activities and hot springs mostly located on the west coast of the island. Lipari has five main suburbs: Lipari, Canneto, Acquacalda, Pianoconte and Quattropani. These are are all connected by a scenic road that runs along the island. An absolute must is the island tour by taxi or by moped to admire the breathtaking views towards the other sisters from different points of the island.
