There are several ways to get to the Aeolian Islands. Here you will find some of them.
By plane:

You can take a taxi, minibus (or Giuntabus?) to the port of Milazzo (approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes). Once you reach the port you can either take the ferry which takes approximately 2 hours or the hydrofoil that takes about 50 minutes.
From Reggio Calabria Airport
You can take a taxi or minibus to the port where the hydrofoils depart daily to the Islands.
By Car:
You can embark your car on the ferry:
from Naples (11 hours - night travel);
from the port of Milazzo (about 2 hours travel time)
By train:
You can take a direct train to Milazzo from all of the main cities of Italy:
Rome, Milan, Naples, Venice, Turin, Palermo, and Messina.
Once you arrive at the port of Milazzo you can take the hydrofoil (about 50 minutes travel time) or the ferry ( about 2 hours trave time ).
By hydrofoil:
Hydrofoils are run all year round from Messina and Milazzo.
From June to September they are also available from the ports of Palermo, Reggio Calabria and Naples.
